The working
- Closing balance for a month = opening balance + receipts - payments - BAS paid (or + BAS refunded).
- When GST is switched on, each line you mark as carrying GST is grossed up by 10% in the bank account, and the net GST for each quarter is paid or refunded in the BAS month: 28 October, 28 February and 28 April. The April to June quarter is due 28 July, after this year ends, so it shows as GST owing at 30 June.
- Headroom = closing balance + overdraft limit. A negative headroom means the account would be over its limit that month.

Questions
Do I enter figures with or without GST?
Without. Enter every sale and cost excluding GST, then tick the lines that carry GST. The forecaster adds the GST to the bank account and settles it in the BAS months, which keeps each line easy to check against your budget. Your accountant can confirm which of your sales and costs carry GST.
How do I show an overdraft?
Enter the opening balance as a negative number if the account is overdrawn, and the overdraft limit as a positive number. The chart shows the limit as a line, so you can see how close each month comes.
Is my data saved or sent anywhere?
No. The figures are kept in your own browser so they are still there when you come back on the same device, and nothing is sent to Farm CFO or anyone else. Use Download CSV to keep a copy, or the Excel template for a version you can edit offline.
Can I test a bad season with these figures?
Yes. Open the season stress test on the same device and it picks up your forecast, then lets you cut prices, lift costs, delay sales and add interest to see what happens to the overdraft.
