Arithmetic only, at a fixed rate for the whole term. A lender's repayments can differ with fees, rate changes and how it charges interest. This is not an offer of credit or a borrowing estimate.
The default rate is the RBA's August 2026 average small business lending rate on new loans (7.23%), variable and fixed combined. Your own rate will differ.
The working
- Principal and interest: repayment = loan x r / (1 - (1 + r) ^ -n), where r = annual rate / repayments a year and n = years x repayments a year.
- Interest only: repayment = loan x annual rate / repayments a year, with the full loan still owing at the end.
- This is arithmetic only. A lender's actual repayment can differ with fees, rate changes and how it charges interest.

Questions
Are annual repayments cheaper than monthly?
No. With the same rate, paying less often means the balance stays higher for longer, so total interest is a little higher. The benefit is timing: an annual or half-yearly repayment can fall just after the main sale.
Does this tell me how much I can borrow?
No. How much a lender will advance depends on its assessment of your business, security and credit policy. Farm CFO doesn't provide credit assistance. For finance, see our equipment finance page.
What about a RIC loan?
RIC's variable rate is 5.71% from 1 August 2026. Enter that rate and the loan's terms to see the repayments. Check the loan agreement for the exact repayment basis.
